Wedding

Thursday evening 8/25 at 6pm:
A New Mexican welcome dinner in our backyard for those coming from out of town.
Friday 8/26 at 5:30pm:
Wedding on Museum Hill followed by dinner and dancing.
Attire: Festive not formal
Saturday 8/27 11:30am - 1:30pm:
Open house with light lunch outdoors at our house.
The wedding will take place at Museum Hill, a short drive from downtown. We will arrange transportation from in-town locations; there is also a large parking area, a short flight of steps or use elevator access to the museum plaza.
We live in an adobe house at 801 Old Santa Fe Trail, about 3/4 mile from the Plaza. If you drive to our house, park on Camino Monte Vista, an unpaved side street just above our house.
For those flying to Santa Fe from the East Coast, it will be most comfortable to arrive on Wednesday. We appreciate your letting us know when to expect you.

Travel & Stay
Flying to Santa Fe
Santa Fe airport (SAF) is served directly from Denver (United Airlines) or Dallas and Phoenix (American). If you are flying, you will connect through one of these cities. It is best to arrange a ride (Uber, Lyft) into town ahead of time as there are no taxis at the airport. The ride into town is about 15 minutes.

Albuquerque (ABQ) is a larger airport with more flight options. The drive to Santa Fe takes about an hour. Shuttle service available via Groome Transportation, $39 + tax per person each way. Book Here
Car : To rent or not to rent?
Downtown Santa Fe is very walkable and can be explored by foot. A car is necessary for some museums and for journeys outside the city. See ‘’Explore.” We will provide transportation from downtown hotels to the wedding on Museum Hill.
Hotels
We have reserved blocks of rooms in two hotels. To receive our discount, call the hotel directly and reference “Cohen/Sanders Wedding.”

There are many other good hotels and some lovely Bed and Breakfasts, and Air B&Bs in Santa Fe.
Santa Fe is an extremely popular destination in summer, hotels fill up. Please reserve early.
Explore
Santa Fe calls itself “The City Different” and has been the capital of this region since 1610, when it was part of Spain. Start with www.santafe.org. The historic heart of the city is the Plaza. The Railyard District features art galleries, and a terrific Farmers Market on Saturday mornings.

Dining in Santa Fe
Santa Fe is a good food town with many options. Many restaurants book up weeks in advance. We are happy to guide you.
New Mexican cuisine is a variation on Mexican food. When ordering, be prepared for the New Mexico question: “red, green or Christmas?” meaning chili! New Mexico considers itself the “chili capital of the world.” Green chili, a local favorite, is spicier.

Shopping
Stores lean to southwestern style, especially Indian objects such as jewelry, pottery and textiles.

Art
Santa Fe is the second largest art market in the country. Galleries are everywhere, on famous Canyon Road as well as other streets in town.

Museums
There are many museums here, especially of Southwestern history and Native American artistry.
We will provide a pass for free admission to four major museums.
The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is downtown near the Plaza. Reservations are required.

Opera
Santa Fe has its own distinguished opera company in a gorgeous open-air setting north of town. There are performances during the week of our wedding and the season ends Saturday, August 27 with Carmen. Buy tickets directly from the opera.

Spa
Just ten-minutes’ drive from town, Ten Thousand Waves is an Asian-inspired spa in the tradition of the great Japanese mountain hot spring resorts. There is also a superb Japanese restaurant there, Izanami.
Hiking
Many rewarding hikes in the area, at varying elevations up to 11,000 feet and with a range of degree of difficulty. Stuart can advise you.

Exploring the Region
This is a stunningly beautiful area, with mountains all around and the stark beauty of the high desert. Both Santa Fe itself and the area within driving distance afford stunning vistas. We encourage you to plan extra time to look around.

Nearby (within an hour+ driving distance) are Los Alamos, Bandelier historic site, and Taos. Georgia O’Keeffe lived in Abiquiu, an hour’s drive from Santa Fe; her house can be visited (reserve at the museum link above). There are outstanding mountain landscapes in every direction.
